Improving my economy of strokes

A tip from Gregory Manchess on developing your painting skills was to paint an apple with only 10 strokes. I tried it out, and did not realize how little you really need to create a 3d looking object! It's not so much about the strokes, but clear realization of where light and shadow is, strong shapes, and looking at things in it's simple bone essence. Later I realized that many masters went through this same practice in their learning years.

Sketches from sketch club

(Summer 2012)

A few of us decided to get together during the summer break to do a sketch club; posing for each other daily. Lots of fun, and tons of practice.

More still life

Another two. One with charcoal, and the other one with colored pencil on black paper. 2011

Food still life

A charcoal still life I did in 2011 for a drawing class

Drawing works in 2011

Did this drawing back in 2011 for my drawing class. Mechanical pencil. Inspired by Paul Calle, but nothing close to his mastery.
