Some updates

Some sketches I did along side school work and NDA freelance projects. Been having a go at the Spitpaint group on facebook too. Pretty fun, but will definitely stop soon to work on some finished work. Happy Halloween!

Environment sketching week 6

Style adaptation practice for an environment class I'm taking. Tried to redesign a previous painting into the style of samurai Jack. Not the easiest thing. But as a visual development artist, one might have to adapt to a decided style by an art director for projects and get familiar and appreciate it's beauty and see how your skills can contribute to that.

Improving my economy of strokes

A tip from Gregory Manchess on developing your painting skills was to paint an apple with only 10 strokes. I tried it out, and did not realize how little you really need to create a 3d looking object! It's not so much about the strokes, but clear realization of where light and shadow is, strong shapes, and looking at things in it's simple bone essence. Later I realized that many masters went through this same practice in their learning years.

Sketches from sketch club

(Summer 2012)

A few of us decided to get together during the summer break to do a sketch club; posing for each other daily. Lots of fun, and tons of practice.

More still life

Another two. One with charcoal, and the other one with colored pencil on black paper. 2011
